陳詠謙 wrote a love song that stays in the car. English title: Tinted Windows. Hold hands in the street and you are on display. Behind black glass you can still exist.

The idea was Kaho’s. Tint the glass, and the people outside cannot inventory you. He thought that was romantic, then asked for a song. It is the second single in that 2024 run after 只要你不尷尬: privacy as a kindness, not a crime.

Why the glass has to be black

Verse one is a protest in traffic language. 人潮中的戀愛幾百種, so why 手拖手示眾? 示眾 is show to the crowd — the old punishment-word, not a neutral “in public.” The car is the opposite move: 藏下你 藏下我, check the 後鏡, and 還未泡湯.

Then the map gets tiny and kind: 前方七十米轉角有另一幅天空. Seventy metres. A corner. Another sky. You do not need a new country. You need a turn.

• 穿過一線光 開到世間的對岸. 開 is drive and also open. The windscreen is a border. The other shore is still in the same city.
• 秘密亦無害. The secret is not an affair-plot. It is the right not to perform.
• 戀後駕駛 讓我最高速的開. After the kiss, you drive. 戀後 is the afterglow sitting where 然後 would be. The MV title is hiding in the chorus. 開 is still both verbs.
• 情路背後藏異彩. The road of the relationship has colour on the back side — the part the street does not get.

Verse two is the date they can actually have. No 檯布 dinner. 紙袋紙盒一樣慣 — takeaway bags, same as always. No wine, but 有星, and 你的一雙眼. 愛無直線. The engine yells. You take the corner together.

The bridge asks whether love can skip the GPS. 走出車看看 如此空曠 — get out, and the world is suddenly huge. The last chorus swaps 盛放 for 暴曬. Same melody. Outside, love is in bloom; or it is getting sunburnt. The glass is what decides.

The MV is the lyric with a manual gearbox

Kaho’s first overseas MV. Japan, because the song is a car. They put him on the Usui pass from Initial D, at Suwa from Your Name, and up at Kurumayama shrine. The third lead is a Honda Civic Type R FL5. He had just passed the stick-shift test and drove the driving shots himself. The tint is the plot. The car is the set.

If you only listen, you still get it. The pictures just refuse to be subtle.

Language

• The last chorus swaps 盛放 for 暴曬（bou6 saai3） — bloom for sunburn. The garbled 暴�� on some paste jobs is this word.
• 泡湯（pou5 tong1） is the idiom fall through, not soup. 還未泡湯 = it hasn’t gone under yet. 泡 is pou5 here, not pou4.
• 檯布 is a tablecloth. 檯 is toi4, not toi2. A laid table is the public ritual they skip. The paper bag is the private one.
• 示眾 is show to the crowd. Once you hear the old legal sting, 黑玻璃 is not shyness. It is shelter.
• 後鏡 is the rear-view. 藏下你 藏下我 is hide, then look at the evidence that you both exist.
• 導航 is GPS. 天邊海角 without a pin: the boast is that they do not need to be found.
• 開 will not sit still. Drive. Open it up. Open the sky. The chorus needs all three.
